[Moonlight]

My materials are, S-30-V blade, still with the HT coloring on it. Some .085 Ti for the liners, carbon fiber scales, stanless bolsters, and a Ti spine.

To get the juices flowing this morning, I started the day off with some Fear Factory.

Day 2...
I started off the morning grinding the lock face on the tang of the blade.


Layout of the lock on the liner.

Here's where I'm at right now.

I started on the scales.



I finish my bolsters first, then I fit my scales to the bolsters. I don't have a pantograph, so this is done with the grinder and files. I hate this part. When the fit looks good held up to the light, I mark the scale and bolster, then superglue the scale in place.


I drill the holes for the scales through the liners.


The final shot for the night. The liner soaking in Feric because of the tap I broke in the last hole I had to thread...

Here is a little more scale work.


I round my bolsters first, then I put on the scales and match them to the bolsters.



Here are the bolsters and scales mostly finished.


Grinding in the thumb ramp to get to the thumb stud.


Fileing notches in the lock bar. First I use a 3 square to mark the spot, then I go back with a round file to finish.

I decided to do a little drilling on the spine.


Work on the pocket clip.

Par rapport aux autres il bosse beaucoup plus à la main ….

I started off with the thumb studs.


I needed a little more gription on the studs, so I decided to use my high speed rotery tool and put little divots all over the dome.


Then I go back a stipple over the divots to even things out.


Here they are installed.


Next I preped the liners for bead blasting.


In the blast cabinet.


After blasting.


I'll be grinding the blade tonight sometime.

Time to do some grindin...

Some 60 grit on a 10" wheel.


After 60 grit.


After 400 grit.




Then I go onto hand sanding with some WD40 and elbo grease.


Then I go onto the swedge. I do this on the platen in an almost verticle position.

I started the day off with sharpening the blade. I put most of the edge on with the grinder, then I finish off with a vice and stones at 20 degrees.


Hair popping sharp.


Time to etch my mark on the blade with an Electro Etch system.


The stainless bolsters are stainless damascus... Here they are in some Sulferic acid.


I wanted a subtle look so I went with some 30 turn Damasteel.


Time for final assembly. I use Super Lube on the pivot area, and some blue Loc Tite on the screws.
